It was announced today that Danube, the high quality French commercial laundry manufacturer, has received official WRAS approval, clearing the way for its distribution in the UK.
The entire ‘WED’ range of washer extractors and the MED 16 barrier washing machine have been approved up to category 5 rating, offering a product to suit every need. Machines include 8kg, 10kg, 13kg, 18kg and 25kg loads.
Danube products have started arriving at the Gloucester warehouses of exclusive UK distributors Gillman’s, who have started shipping the products to customers that pre-ordered the products.
Spencer Wallace, Head of Commercial Sales for Danube UK, said: “I am delighted to hear that the Danube range has received its WRAS approval. We were in no doubt that such high quality products would be approved, but it’s a big step nonetheless and means that we can start distributing these excellent washer extractors to the many companies that placed pre-orders with us.”
Handling more than two million appliances every year with its own delivery fleet, Gillman’s is now the country’s largest freestanding appliance distributor. The group is distributing the entire Danube range - six front loading washing machines, seven tumble driers, three rotary irons, nine drier irons and five barrier washing machines.
Danube’s laundry and drying equipment combines extremely high build quality with excellent value for money and the company is also including an unmatched parts guarantee and service package.
The WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) is funded by the UK water supply companies to ensure that laundry products meet the requirements of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999. This means that the water supply isn’t contaminated when infected laundry is washed and also that the machines can be installed to meet plumbing requirements.
Spencer is now actively seeking partner dealers to operate exclusive territories around the UK.
“Using a network of partner dealers means that not only will the care homes, hotels and hospitals that buy our products be able to source them locally, but the technical support and product servicing will be fast, accurate and responsive, minimising downtime and maximising profit.”
Danube products come with a full 12 months guarantee, and Gillman’s is promising next day delivery on the bulk of spare parts. Spencer is also offering full support for Danube’s partner dealers, including assisting with generating and fulfilling sales leads, attending pitches where possible, and being on hand for any queries.
Danube was founded in 1947 in the small town of Lamotte Beuvron near Orleans in the Loire Valley. It has never been formally distributed in the UK.
Spencer has more than 18 years’ experience in the commercial Laundry sector working for top manufacturers like Electrolux and Miele in senior management roles, contributing significantly to their commercial success – and is already making waves in the commercial laundry sector with Danube – filling a gap in the market he has had his eye on for years.
Danube caters for commercial users including residential care and nursing homes, hotels, hospitals, prisons, schools, camping sites and even fire brigades.

Laundry Machine have been selected as an exclusive dealer for Danube across the midlands. We have launched a range of high spin washing machines and tumble dryers and will also be launching a brand new range of ironing equipment, barrier washers and hydro extractors.
All equipment will be extremely competitive on price and come with our high level of after sales service.
Laundry Machine recently traveled to Danube Uk head office to inspect equipment and see the infrastructure before committing to stock Danube machines. Our team looked at all aspects of the equipment from both a sales and service perspective and found the equipment to be of an extremely high standard.
Our sales team were impressed with the direct drive system on the tumble dryers which eliminates the need for the conventional belt driven system meaning end users need never change a belt.
Danube have been producing laundry equipment for over 61 years and are a market leader across Europe, America, and Asia.
With a huge PR campaign and full sales and service backup Danube are positioned to become the new name in commercial laundry across the UK.
